MeshBox NFT + DeFi Launch Imminent
MeshBox and SmartMesh are poised to launch a new business model which will be a boon for investors and speed the deployment of a much-needed Inclusive Value Internet. This new paradigm will be based on the MeshBox Non-Fungible-Token (NFT) called MBOX, and leverage an innovative DeFi model. Continual Return-on-Investment (ROI) in the form of MESH mining incentivizes Investors and local network operators to work synergistically and bring about a next-generation infrastructure to both developed, and underserved populations.
The MeshBox NFT+DeFi model addresses systemic failures which have led to 3+ billion people without affordable Internet and about 2 billion without banking services. In traditional approaches, centralized businesses evaluate the ROI for deploying high CAPEX and OPEX infrastructure in the form of cellular and fiber networks with connectivity to the Internet. Many remote, rural, and underserved areas do not meet the ROI criteria of such business models, and thus cannot break out of their cycle of poverty.
The MeshBox NFT+ DeFi model starts from a low-cost, easily deployed HyperMesh network (consisting of MeshBoxes), and adds a cryptographically secured NFT which represents investment into the CAPEX of a MeshBox. MeshBox HyperMesh Investors (MHI) stake USDT to fund the MeshBox CAPEX cost, and receive one MBOX NFT for each MeshBox investment. The MBOX NFT is a blockchain secured certificate, which garners a continuous ROI stream of MESH tokens corresponding to mined blocks on the Spectrum public blockchain.
Then, synergistically, the funded MeshBox is delivered to underserved, where MeshBox Local Operators (MLO) deploy the MeshBoxes and pay for the operational costs. This dramatically reduces the cost burden for such underserved communities, since they are spared from having to pay for the CAPEX costs.
The initial, small group of Genesis MHI (investing in the first production batch of MeshBoxes) will not only receive ROI from the Genesis MeshBox Mining Pool, but will continually receive an ROI from successive mining pools. The DeFi model also offers liquidity in that an investor can trade their MBOX NFT with another investor.
Genesis MBOX owners become the founding members of an Inclusive Value Internet, will be remembered by the MeshBox community in its development history, and enjoy unique notoriety and rich benefits.
This article presents the inclusivity challenges we face; proposes a new infrastructure paradigm called the HyperMesh as the next generation Inclusive Value Internet; explains the role of MeshBox and SmartMesh in leading the HyperMesh ecosystem, and invites investors to contribute in launching the Inclusive Value Internet.
The Challenges We Face
Our current Cyber-Physical Infrastructure is a technological marvel, gifting mankind with tools to innovate at an ever-increasing exponential rate. We depend on such innovation if we are to survive and thrive as a species. However, a myriad of existential threats loom if our civilization continues along our current path, including the impacts due to climate change; artificial superintelligence, and the corresponding automation which will displace many jobs.
With social media personal information being readily available in Data Centers, an Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI) entity, which feeds on big-data, could gain control over the destiny of the human race. Automation, digitization, robots and AI will replace more and more jobs, resulting in the value of human labor being greatly diminished. Climate change threatens to flood coastal cities and increase the rate and severity of pandemics and other natural disasters.
The Vision of an Inter-Galactic Network
The current infrastructure, with corporations focusing on maximizing shareholder profits, is flawed in being able to protect the human race against future challenges and threats; and bring balance through inclusivity. For instance, the race to increase productivity and consumption at all costs exacerbates climate change even further. The centralized nature of most business models, and the resulting centralized networks degrades our ability to protect humanity from such impending doomsday scenarios. Centralized data (in the cloud data centers) in the hands of a few corporations constitute single-points-of-failure and are susceptible to a myriad of attacks such as DDOS, malware, ASI, etc.
However, one of the Internet’s founding fathers had a different vision for a better future. Inspired by the Soviet Union’s first satellite launch, J.C.R. Licklider, the father of the Internet, in 1962, proposed and funded the idea of an Inter-Galactic Network, which the ARPAnet, which became our Internet today. Licklider’s idea involved a global computer network that allowed everyone to access information from anywhere in the world. Unfortunately, subsequent developments have increasingly deviated from the original intent, resulting in the fact that half of the world’s population has been denied access to the Internet.
Licklider graduated from the Department of Physics at Washington University in St. Louis, and is a fellow alumni of MeshBox CEO Dr. Peter Yan, and SmartMesh CEO Henry Wang. Henry and Peter were Ph.D. students in the computer science and electrical engineering departments, respectively.
MeshBox and SmartMesh have a mission to rebuild the Internet architecture, into that of a Value Internet, that supports secure and inclusive communications. We strive to work with ecosystem partners to realize our dream, within a decade, to connect mankind with a HyperMesh infrastructure, spanning satellite communications in space, and mesh networks on the ground.
Towards an Inclusive Society, via the HyperMesh
While many in the developed countries enjoy advanced technology, there is a growing divide with the rest of the world. There are currently 3+ Billion people without internet access, almost 2 Billion unbanked people, and 1.2 Billion without access to electricity [Paygo]. The current system is not inclusive and has left behind almost half of the world’s population, much against the inclusive philosophy promoted by Licklider.
A new paradigm is needed in order to ensure the survival, proliferation, and security of the human race. This new paradigm will not be just another iteration on the old. Rather, it will be based on the HyperMeshTM: a distributed, synergized blend of networking, computing, data storage/access, distributed ledgers for fintech, and cyber-physical IoT infrastructures.
The HyperMeshTM Infrastructure is being built from the ground-up, in a distributed fault-tolerant manner, incentivized by blockchain cryptocurrencies, powered by renewable transactive energy, and enabled by a world-wide Satellite Internet with local peer-to-peer (P2P) mesh communication (such as using MeshBoxes) on the ground. A HyperMesh network uses a variety of wireless networking technologies, including satellite microwave technology, WiFi, LPWAN (such as LoRaWAN), 2G/3G/4G/5G cellular, Whitespace, etc. Users of the HyperMesh enjoy the advantages of anywhere/anytime deployment, fast networking, low deployment cost, high security, high resiliency, and strong disaster recovery support. Another key benefit is the access to Blockchain technology, which enables the decentralized MeshBox network to directly support fintech transactions, to build a global decentralized Value Internet.
Personal data will be owned by individuals, sharded, encrypted, and secured with SmartMesh blockchain technology, implemented on the HyperMesh network, to reduce the amount of easily accessible big-data for ASI entities. The goal is for the Spectrum blockchain and associated smart-contracts to provide transparency and implement customs, laws, and legal contracts in the HyperMesh, which nothing (not even ASI) will be able to modify or destroy. The HyperMesh infrastructure is designed to further the UN Sustainable Development Goals, including climate change mitigation.
SmartMesh Foundation and MeshBox Foundation are driving an ecosystem that aims to deploy such an HyperMesh infrastructure in order strive for inclusivity and security in an uncertain world. We aim to realize the dream of Professor Licklider, our founding father, and fellow Alumni, to build his vision of an Inter-Galactic network. Recently, Elon Musk has announced plans to extend the Starlink satellite constellation to Mars (with laser links back to earth), which is the first step to constructing such an Inter-Galactic network.
Reality on the Ground
In the years before the Covid-19 pandemic, SmartMesh CEO Henry Wang and MeshBox CEO Peter Yan traveled all over the Philippines, from Cagayan in the North to Davao in the South, enjoying several beautiful beaches such as Sorsogon and Boracay, and of course Manila and the surrounding areas. While the cities and resorts had adequate internet coverage, albeit intermittent, due to power outages; those in the surrounding areas suffer from weak, intermittent, or non-existent internet access.
In such areas, children do not often use smartphones (absent in the pictures) due to non-existent, or un-affordable internet access.
For places without internet coverage, the residents are being left behind, due to their lack of internet access. The deployment of HyperMesh Infrastructure in such communities, can provide Internet, eCommerce payment networks, digital identity, computing, and data storage benefits, to promote inclusivity.
There are several business models that can work for such a deployment.
Grassroots (bottom-up) HyperMesh Deployment
The HyperMesh offers immense opportunities for those in underserved areas to start a micro-entrepreneurship for themselves, by investing in a MeshBox, and providing Internet, storage, and payment services to a small part of the community. With network-effect benefits, neighbors in the community can also do the same, and work together to enlarge such a network to the entire community. Thus, a village is empowered with self-determination to improve their lives, instead of waiting for centralized companies to deploy networks in their community.
However, persons living in underserved areas often lack the educational opportunity enjoyed by those in developed areas. Thus, it will be difficult for them to grasp the magnitude of their opportunities. They may not understand the incentives and Return-on-Investment (ROI) which they could accrue if they invest in building a HyperMesh network.
Centralized (top-down) HyperMesh Deployment
Government, Telecom operators, businesses, and NGOs can buy MeshBoxes and deploy them to help the underserved. The challenge is such governments and NGOs in underserved countries may have limited budgets and may be mired in inefficiencies, such as corruption. Telcos and businesses need to understand the ROI for deployment into underserved areas, which may be challenging if they do not understand the new, emerging blockchain and decentralized compute/storage/energy infrastructure, which is the HyperMesh.
Decentralized Finance using MeshBox MBOX Non-Fungible-Token (NFT)
While the above bottom-up and top-down business models are still valid, SmartMesh and MeshBox have developed another business model, which can solve many of the above issues. In this model, there are two parties:
- MeshBox HyperMesh Investor (MHI): A person or entity can invest in one or more MeshBoxes by staking 2000 USDT, to pay for the CAPEX costs. The MHI receives a Non-Fungible-Token (NFT) called MBOX in exchange for such an investment, earns Liquidity Mining rewards in the form of MESH tokens, and is free to trade the MBOX with others.
- MeshBox Local Operator (MLO): An MLO is a person or entity which receives the MeshBox (corresponding to the MBOX NFT which an MHI has paid for). The MLO is responsible for the OPEX costs of running the MeshBox in the local community (electricity, security, space for deployment, internet backhaul fees, etc).
This DeFi model is a new solution that enables investors to help the underserved (much like a charity donation) with the difference that the investment provides an infrastructure that will help countless generations of the underserved. In addition, for those in underserved areas, the CAPEX costs of the MeshBoxes for deployment are taken care of by the MHI. Thus the MLO will only need to take care of the OPEX costs.
Continual ROI for MeshBox HyperMesh Investors
MeshBox can be used for token mining, but is much more than just a mining machine. MeshBox is the Blockchain hardware foundation of the next generation IT Infrastructure, the HyperMesh. The HyperMesh is a decentralized network composed of MeshBoxes as a key hardware building block, with decentralized computing, storage, and connectivity capabilities. In the case of intermittent Internet, a mesh network composed of MeshBoxes can still connect local mesh users and provide decentralized application services.
When deployed, MeshBox acts as a gateway between the physical and digital worlds by connecting IoT devices to Internet applications. MeshBox and SmartMesh are creating a new standard for decentralized networks, computing, and storage devices.
MBOX is the Return-on-Investment (ROI) certificate of the HyperMesh network, which is enabled by globally deployed MeshBox nodes. When the MeshBox team launches the DeFi event, community members who invest, by staking 2000 USDT per MeshBox, are eligible to participate in the construction of the HyperMesh network, and will receive a MBOX ROI certificate. Such persons will become MeshBox HyperMesh Investors (MHI).
Soon, anyone will have the chance to become an MHI, when a limited number of 85 Alpha version MeshBox-Teslas will be offered in the Genesis MeshBox NFT+DeFi launch event. Such MHI will receive Genesis MBOX, which is the first set of MBOX corresponding to the first 85 MeshBox-Teslas to be manufactured.
Different generations of MBOX will be issued for different batches of MeshBox production. After the first generation of MBOX is issued for presale, sucessive generations of MBOX will be issued with successive MeshBox production events. A MBOX NFT corresponds to the investment into a MeshBox, and results in ROI being generated for the MHI for the current, as well as successive Mining pools. MBOX can also be bought and sold between investors, and has circulation value (and thus liquidity).
Genesis MBOX represents the birth of the first generation of MHI, which will be remembered by the MeshBox community in its development history and enjoy unique notoriety and rich benefits.
