MeshBox Biweekly Report (2022.04.02–2022.04.15)

The MeshBox side chain’s PoM Proof-of-Mesh consensus has made good progress in research and development.  The latest implementation method minimizes the modification of the software drivers of third-party hardware devices, thereby facilitating implementation in a wider number of third-party device providers.

The USA-based hardware device manufacturer which had benefited from past investment by both MeshBox and SmartMesh Foundation has completed a new round of financing, increasing the value of share equity held by the foundations.  The new funding will also accelerate the development and production of third-party equipment manufacturing of MeshBoxes.

Software Development:

  1. MESH side chain consensus module development:
  • Developed logic in smart contracts related to the acquisition of validator node lists, distribution of PoC rewards, etc.
  • Developed logic for punishing nodes that do not produce blocks normally in the MESH sidechain;
  • Developed block header verification logic, including verification of verifier list, signers, block time, block difficulty, etc.;

2. The PoM development team has made good progress in an implementation that minimizes the modification of the software drivers of third-party hardware devices, thereby facilitating implementation in a wider number of third-party device providers.

  • Studied broadcast mechanism in batman-adv, and analyzed how UDP broadcast packets are sent through mesh links;
  • Developed test programs for UDP broadcast in PoM to verify the reachability of UDP broadcast packets.

Hardware Development:

Participated in PoM design, discussion, and verification of key cores.

Studied scheme of NFT used for mesh payment for Internet access, and compared token consumption and circulation of different scenarios.

  1. MeshBox and ecosystem partner SmartMesh are signing a non-disclosure agreement with a non-profit organization in eastern Congo to develop a business model for charitable support for clean water. The organization can create NFTs for wells invested by philanthropists on SmartMesh ecosystem partner MetaLife. These philanthropists are then added to the associated DAO. Donated funds are used to purchase wells with IoT sensors to measure and track water quality. LoRa, MeshBox broadband internet, and token economics are used to collect data and feedback from all stakeholders. Additionally, DAO members may receive rewards that encourage further investment.
  2. The USA-based hardware device manufacturer which had benefited from past investment by both MeshBox and SmartMesh Foundations has completed a new round of financing, increasing the value of share equity held by the foundations.  The new funding will also accelerate the development and production of third-party equipment manufacturing of MeshBoxes. This will enable the large-scale bottom-up distributed Value Internet deployment after the completion of PoM development.
