Meshbox Biweekly Report (2020.10.31 – 2020.11.13)

On November 9th, Dr. Pei Sai Fan, the former Director of the MAS Academy of Singapore, published a signed article “Making Regulations to Build Digital Finance and Digital Trade” in Singapore’s Lianhe Morning News. The article interprets Singapore’s new financial regulations: digital assets will be fully incorporated into financial regulations. Dr. Pei Sai Fan said that Singapore, as an important node of global and Asia technology and innovation, brings together global technology and talents, and has the ability and necessary conditions to support the integrated and coordinated development of digital economy and trade in Asia and the world. The two projects MeshBox and SmartMesh were highlighted by Dr. Pei Sai Fan as fintech projects symbolizing Singapore’s innovation and tolerance. The article was published and reposted by many media such as Mars Finance and Caixin in Mainland China.

Professor David Lee, the vice chairman of the Singapore Economic Association, delivered an important speech entitled “The Driving Force and Accelerator of the Fourth Industrial Revolution” at the 6th (2020) International Conference on Fintech. A good example is SmartMesh’s Ground Space Integration Network. Wang Qiheng, the founder and president from China, settled in Singapore in 2017, and actively promotes the integration of space and ground network, which is composed of satellite Internet and MeshBox on the ground, hoping to bring inclusive communications to 56% of the world’s population who currently do not have access to Internet.

For the first time in human history, the Ground Space Integration Network will allow mobile phones to issue transactions without an internet connection, payments with both sides being offline, and allows digital currency to be traded for cash. Payments and other basic financial services can still be completed when there is no internet connection.

The Ground Space Integration Network will assist the Asian Development Bank, starting from Southeast Asia, and ultimately linking the entire Asia, using satellite networks to link all remote areas and islands, and then using “decentralized or distributed finance” (DeFi), provide basic financial services to vulnerable social groups without bank accounts.
