MeshBox Biweekly Report (2020.11.28–2020.12.11)

The 2020 Singapore Fintech Festival (SFF) and the Singapore Week of Innovation & Technology (SWITCH) us being held this week. SFF and SWITCH is jointly organized by the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the Singapore Economic Development Board.

During the Singapore Fintech Festival, Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and Enterprise Singapore (ESG) launched a Blockchain for Trade & Connectivity (BTC) network, a unifying platform that will allow blockchain and other technologies to work together. This project is supported by the National Research Foundation. The network will focus on simplifying the connections between existing systems or platforms by integrating mesh networks, thereby enhancing interoperability between blockchains. This is in-line with the philosophy of the Blockchain Living Labs, co-founded by SmartMesh, MeshBox, and SUSS.  The Blockchain Living Labs has taken a step towards achieving the Mesh network mentioned in Professor David Lee’s “Global Digital Economy Map and China’s Digital RMB” speech.

On the last day of Singapore Fintech Festival, Huobi (Singapore) donated S$30,000 to the SUSS Inclusive Financial Technology Fund to further the development of blockchain education. Huobi University President Yu Jianing had given a talk at the SUSS-SmartMesh workshop and served as a judge of the Blockchain Living Labs’ Blockchain Challenge.

The following is our recent specific work:

Software Development Progress

1. Incorporated new certificate files

2. Incorporated the tree command to view the directory tree easily

3. Incorporated docker-compose

4. Fixed the banner problem

Software Testing Progress

MeshBox-Turing     v3.2.5.982

Testing the effect after incorporating the new certificate file

Testing the combined tree command and view effect on the directory tree

Testing the effect of incorporating docker-compose

Testing the effect after fixing related banner issues

Hardware Progress

1. Research the development trend of the mainstream CPU so that the MeshBox follow-up function/performance/ price–performance ratio can be better developed.

2. Research on trusted execution environment and blockchain distributed Oracle.

Product Development Progress

1. Continue to prepare for the deployment of distributed application software packages that can still be used in network-less or a weak network environment to improve the use value and user experience of MeshBox.

2. IoT application enviorment off-chain data is provided to the research and exchange of smart contracts through Oracle.

Professor Tsui Kai Chong, the Dean of Singapore University of Social Sciences, said: “The BTC Network is one of SUSS’s endeavors in harnessing transformative technologies to serve society’s changing needs and contribute to building an inclusive and resilient society for social good. We are excited that the resulting programmes and courses will better equip our students and adult learners with future-ready digital capabilities.”

3. Today, at the MeshBox team management meeting, Professor David Lee affirmed the significance and importance of the “compliance audit work” currently being considered. Professor Lee pointed out: The project compliance audit is an important measure to ensure the long-term development of the project and a necessary procedure for the project to enter the global market.

1Compliance audit is a demonstration of the project team’s “internal strength”. Professor Lee used the example of “writing with ink” to illustrate the importance of compliance audit in the long-term development of the project. Only when you “grind the ink” with focus, attentiveness, and are not eager for success, the “characters” written after “grinding the ink” can be smooth and beautiful, and such “characters” can be called “a good work.”

2A compliance audit is the most beneficial protection for investors. The compliance audit will play an important role to ensure the safe operation by the project party, and represents the greatest protection for the investors.

3A compliance audit can attract large investment institutions and funds. The compliance audit has built protection for large investment institutions and funds to invest in the project party. This is a necessary check-list item for investors when considering investment.
