MeshBox Biweekly Report (2021.01.23 -2021.02.05)

The development of the Internet has reached a new turning point, which is accompanied by the generation of massive amounts of data. Currently, machines, such as IoT devices produce more data than humans. Cloud computing has difficulty in scaling to meet the demand to store and process this volume of data due to being too far (distance and latency) from the data.  Edge computing and fog computing have emerged to help mitigate the Cloud computing scaling problem. The goal of MeshBox is to use a decentralized network to connect everything.  Because MeshBox has the three major elements – network, computing power, and storage, MeshBox is a key building block of the HyperMesh architecture, which serves as the foundation for the Internet of Value.

This week, the MeshBox project team conducted in-depth exchanges with ecosystem partners about PCDN edge computing and started firmware development. The MeshBox project will deploy its PCDN blockchain solution on this product, and ecosystem partners will use their domestic retail resources to promote it. This will become a fast track for an important application of the MeshBox ecosystem. At the same time, the MeshBox team will also utilize its advantages to construct MESH networking infrastructure in Southeast Asia, quickly expanding the product to countries like Philippines and Indonesia.

Recently, the MeshBox marketing team has focused on developing the MeshBox community, building consensus between the community members and the project team, and has achieved good initial results. With the advancement of the project team’s work and the improvement of the consensus with community, it will inject new vitality into the project’s overall operation. MeshBox consultant Mr. Henry is expected to visit Singapore after the Chinese New Year to start related work.

The following is our specific work this week:

Software development

Combined with current CDN cases in the blockchain industry, researched and designed a distributed CDN solution based on the PCDN hardware of MeshBox ecosystem partners:

1. Designed the consensus mechanism to allow a large number of CDN edge nodes to obtain partial block rewards while ensuring high TPS;

2. Designed the network for edge node connection, block verification and synchronization in places such as a large number of home devices;

3. Researched and designed cost-effective an off-chain payment solution, for operators in businesses such as video streaming which currently need to pay a large amount to edge CDN nodes, according to the bytes transmitted.

Hardware development1.

1. Researched the hardware platform of Qualcomm IPQ6000, compiled QSDK firmware and Uboot file of IPQ6000.

2. Researched the Uboot of Qualcomm IPQ6000, research the method for upgrade firmware through Uboot.

3. Researched the differences between Qualcomm IPQ6000 system, NAND Flash, eMMC Flash system in software and hardware while studying the official manual of IPQ.

1. Communicated with Southeast Asian customers for PCDN market demand.

2. Understanding the principle of PCDN technology, including requirements for equipment hardware performance and network.

3. Analyzed the progress of PCDN in the household equipment deployment and the problems encountered during the deployment.

4. Understanding the relevant information about the combining blockchain and CDN.

The specific work of market business is as follows:

1. MeshBox CEO Peter and the product team conducted a preliminary discussion with a Singapore entertainment company, on the use of MeshBox for distributed storage of karaoke and streaming media content for their customers. The company has partnerships with other entertainment companies from China and Southeast Asia.

4. Professor David Lee signed some important documents related to the MeshBox Foundation. Professor Lee said that truly valuable technologies should be used widely to promote “inclusivity” to the lives of ordinary people around the world. He will invest more time with SmartMesh and MeshBox teams to bring Inclusive Communication and Inclusive Finance to the emerging markets.
